In the hidden scriptures of light and mystery, the Archons appear as rulers of the aeons—cosmic powers who dwell between earth and heaven.
They are guardians, deceivers, and obstacles, restraining souls from ascending into the higher realms. Yet within the mysteries revealed by Jesus, their dominion is broken, and their power over the disciples is undone.
The Three Baptisms and the Mystery of Liberation
Before all things, Jesus promised to give his disciples three baptisms: the baptism of water, the baptism of fire, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. With these came the mystery that removed from them the evil of the Archons.
When he sealed them with this mystery, the Archons’ hold was shattered. The disciples rejoiced with great joy, for the evil of the Archons had ceased within them. In that moment, they became immortal, following Jesus wherever he led, no longer bound by the powers of the aeons.
The Praise of the First Mystery
The disciples lifted their voices in praise:
“Hear me as I sing praises to thee, O First Mystery, who hast shone in thy mystery, and hast established all the archons with Jabraoth who have believed in the Kingdom of the Light, in a place of pure air whose imperishable name is…”
In this hymn, the scattered members of the soul—dispersed since the foundation of the world—are gathered back from the Archons, the decans, and the ministers, and restored to the Light.
The Aeons Cannot Bear the Mysteries
The aeons of the Archons cannot endure the mysteries of the Light. When the rites are performed, they cannot grasp them. Instead, the paralemptai—the receivers of the Treasury of the Light—descend. They draw forth the soul from the body, guiding it through the aeons and the places of the invisible God, until it enters the Treasury of the Light. There, all sins—known and unknown—are erased.
The Seal Against the Archons
Jesus warned his disciples to guard these mysteries, not to give them to those who serve the seventy-two Archons, nor to invoke their names. Instead, he taught them the seal and cipher by which the Archons are repelled:
“When you come forth from the body and you reach the first aeon, and the archons of that aeon come forth before you, seal yourselves with this seal… Hold this cipher: 1119 in your two hands. Say the name once only, and speak the defences: ‘Withdraw yourselves, you archons of the first aeon…’”
Hearing these names, the Archons tremble. They flee to the west, to the left, and the soul proceeds upward, unrestrained.
Sons of the Light
At last, Jesus declared:
“It is necessary that you should receive the mystery of the forgiveness of sins, so that you may become Sons of the Light, and be completed in all the mysteries.”
The disciples, sealed and forgiven, prayed that the Archons of the aeons outside the Treasury of the Light would not restrain them, but that they might inherit the Kingdom of the Light.
Conclusion
The Archons, once feared as cosmic rulers and jailers of the soul, are revealed in these mysteries as powerless before the Light. Through baptism, sealing, and the forgiveness of sins, their dominion is broken. The soul, no longer scattered or bound, ascends beyond their grasp—gathered into the eternal Treasury of the Light, and numbered among the Sons of the Light.
